Did you miss the Open House?
Don't worry, watch the Open House Video and check out the grade level presentations below: Kindergarten First Grade Second Grade Fourth Grade Fifth Grade *Third Grade will be sent in Skyward email Recycling at Nottingham - Students Recycling Plastics and Metals and Apples too! Nottingham Elementary students recycle paper as well as plastic, glass and metal throughout the school. Recycling bins are located in all the grade areas as well as the cafeteria. If you send your child to school with a container that can be recycled, please encourage them to use the recycling bins throughout the school. Nottingham students also recycle their uneaten apples by donating them to a local food bank and they recycle their apple cores by composting them in the school’s compost bin located outside by the garden. Students are actively participating and learning about recycling while reducing Nottingham’s waste stream! **THANK YOU to parents Gina Keith and Shawn Kang for helping with the recycling in the cafeteria and weekly delivering the donated apples to the food bank, to parent Craig Parks for gathering the recycling from throughout the school every Thursday, and to Ms. Marshall’s 3rd grade class for taking the apple cores out to the compost bin every week.** More Garden News - Weather Station, Sweet Potatoes, Butterflies and More!
Stop by and see the new improvements at the Nottingham Gardens. Fencing has been added around the vegetable garden. The fencing not only looks beautiful, but also provides additional growing space for climbing vegetables. And Nottingham now has its very own weather station complete with a variety of gauges and a weathervane. The teachers have already started using the weather station with their classes. The vegetable garden has been an active learning place this fall with the 3rd and 4th graders picking hundreds of sweet potatoes, the 4th graders planting green beans and additional plans for planting carrots, radishes, lettuces and peas within the next month. The butterfly garden is alive with monarchs heading south to Mexico and a variety of other bugs and butterflies. You are welcome to visit anytime. The plants and flowers look beautiful this time of year. **THANK YOU to parents Heath Thibodeaux (who also designed the new fencing and weather station), Mike Barone and Mike Giesecke who spent hours and hours of time and labor installing the fencing over a 2 weekend period. Thanks to parent Paula Carvelli for caring for the butterfly garden on a weekly basis and to parent Sara Tyler for volunteering her time to work with the teachers to coordinate and support planting in the vegetable garden.** Pine Needles Needed for Garden Nottingham Gardens are now accepting donations of bags of pine needles. If you wish to contribute, please feel free to drop off bags near the blue sign that says "Pine Needle Drop-Off" in the recycling round-about on the north side of campus. Thank you!
